"To be creative means to be in love with life. You can be creative only if you love life enough that you want to enhance its beauty, you want to bring a little more music to it, a little more poetry to it, a little more dance to it." – Osho
The Cultural Committee is one of the functioning committees in SCMHRD. We bring to campus the arena, we bring to you the gig and we bring to you a reason to come out of your shells: fists thumpin’, feet tappin’ and lips synchin’.
A culmination of music, dance, and dramatics, the Cultural Committee aims to build a bit of reverb, unison, and action into the academic rigor. The club collaborates with other Student Committees on campus to organize events throughout the year. Be it the Neev Theme Launch, Parx Hunt, War of Divisions, or the Godrej Loud kick-off, Cultural Committee sets the ball rolling for some of the biggest events of the year, thereby fostering memories that are cherished by students for times to come. It also organizes Open mic nights providing students a platform to come up on stage and sing as the music club renders a buoyant backing.
The Cultural Committee celebrates the year that went by and sets the tone for the year we look forward to. To this effect, Carol Singing is organized on the eve of Christmas, which has volunteers across the batch join in at the Neev Circle for an evening of merriment. We also put up the Christmas tree and decorations to get the atmosphere of joy to permeate into everyone’s being! The mood for Valentine's Day too is set with lighting and balloons. Spot games and live music see active participation by the Senior and Junior batch, creating an overwhelming sense of mirth and festivity all over.
"A bit of Cultcom lingers in each one of my batchmates when we dance around the kitchen in the refrigerator lights, hum while lost on a long drive upstate or prepare (sometimes too dramatically) infront of the mirror for that big interview" - SCMHRD Alumnus
